Keeping My Own Property = "Goodies" From Government?

In his Media Notes column on the Washington Post website, Howard Kurtz makes the following comparative statement:
" Cutting taxes is easy — you're giving people goodies. Transforming health care, which includes substantial Medicare cuts, is hard."
In response, I sent the following email:
re:  Media Notes, "Four More Years", and tax cuts

Mr. Kurtz,
In your Media Notes column, you describe tax cuts as "goodies" for taxpayers.  I would simply note one thing:  letting people keep more of their own money — money they earn, property they accumulate — is not the same as "giving" someone the fruits of someone else's labor.

Sincerely,
